Although it certainly doesnt hurt to become familiar with some Chinese characters used when playing Sic Bo, the game has found a following in casinos from Las Vegas to London to Monte Carlo and beyond, so English is now the games primary language. Here are some of the terms and phrases most frequently encountered at Sic Bo tables.
Any Double A wager on two of the three dice to match.
Any One Number A wager on a specific number to appear on one or more of the three dice.
Any Pair See Any Double.
Any Triple A wager on all three of the dice to match.
Big A wager on the total of the three dice to be between 11 and 17, inclusive.
Cage A device used for tumbling or shaking the dice before they are rolled.
Combination Bet A wager on two of the three dice to match two numbers specified by the player.
Dice The three cube-shaped playing pieces used to play Sic Bo, numbered on all sides with pips from one to six.
Dice Face A wager on one or more of the three dice to show a specific number.
Double A wager on two of the three dice to show a specific number.
Even A wager on the total of the three dice to equal an even number.
Layout The markings on the table that indicate where wagers are made.
Lose on Any Triple Small and big bets are losers whenever a Triple is spun.
Odd A wager on the total of the three dice to equal an odd number.
Pair Match See Combination Bet.
Re-Bet To repeat the previously made bet(s).
Sic Bo The name of a Chinese dice game, literally translated as dice pair.
Shaker A device that resembles a snow globe, used to mix the dice.
Small A wager on the total of the three dice to be between 4 and 10, inclusive.
Spin A single roll of the dice, which are set in motion using the Cage or Shaker; all bets must be in place prior to this action.
Three Dice Total A wager on the sum of the pips showing on the upward faces of all three dice.
Three Single Number Combination A wager on all three dice to come up with the three selected numbers showing.
Total See Three Dice Total.
Triple A wager on all three dice to show a specified number.
Two Faces See Combination Bet.
