Champions League Preview and Odds - Club Brugge vs Leicester City
September 14, 2016 20:45pm - Jan Breydelstadion
Champions League - Group Stage
Last season`s fairy-tale scri ptwriters Leicester City will pen the very first lines of their Champions League story on Wednesday night when they travel to Belgium to take on Club Brugge.
Euro stage beckons for surprise Premier League champions
Claudio Ranieri has suggested that his band of unlikely heroes are unlikely to perform any more miracles this season as they embark on their tricky Champions League journey. Following their title-winning exploits last season, Leicester City have been catapulted into the elite realm of European football and the Italian boss is keen to play down expectations ahead of the clash with Club Brugge.
Leicester`s title defence has already started poorly with just four points gained from their first four fixtures. Last weekend they were humbled 4-1 away to Liverpool and will be looking to a erase that memory with a confidence-boosting performance on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Belgian Pro League winners Club Brugge will be keen to cause an upset of their own by kicking off their campaign with a victory over the English champions. The Belgian side have already made it farther than last term when they were eliminated at the qualifying stage by Manchester United.
They have also started the season poorly, having picked up just one win in their last five games. They come into this game on the back of a 1-0 league defeat away to Waasland-Beveren.
Team news
Danny Simpson is out with a hamstring injury, while Jeffrey Schlupp (muscle) and Nampalys Mendy (ankle) are both doubtful.

Betting odds and tips
The Foxes will start as favourites but they should not feel too much pressure ahead of this game. While expectations have been raised in the Premier League, few people fancy their chances of making any waves on the big European stage. And that will suit them perfectly. The Belgians have been in patchy form and could be there for the taking.
