Premier League preview and odds: AFC Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur

October 22, 2016 12:30pm - Vitality Stadium

Premier League

AFC Bournemouth will attempt to break into the Premier League`s top 10 on Saturday by becoming the first team in the league this season to beat second-ranked Tottenham Hotpsur. The visitors themselves can claim top spot, for a few hours at least, if they are victorious in this weekend’s early kick-off game.

AFC Bournemouth making good progress

Bournemouth`s second season of top-flight consolidation will continue this weekend with a tough test against one of the main title contenders. The South Coast club are comfortably positioned at 11th place in the Premier League table after a run on six game featuring three wins, two draws and just one defeat. Over that period, they have picked up more points than Chelsea, Manchester United and reigning Champions Leicester City.

The Cherries have scored in all of their home matches and have accumulated 82% of their points on home soil. Their only home defeat came on the opening day when they were beaten 3-1 by Manchester United. Since then, they have won three home games in a row and conceded just one goal. They come into this game on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of Hull City.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur come into this game on an eight-game unbeaten run in the Premier League stretching back to the final day of last season. The North Londoners have scored in each of those eight matches but six of those games produced under 2.5 goals.

Away from home, Mauricio Pochettino`s men have won two and drawn two of the four games that they have played. They come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw away to West Bromwich Albion last weekend and a 0-0 draw away to Bayer Leverkuesen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Team news

Bournemouth will have to make do without the injured group of Harry Arter, Brad Smith, Max Gradel, Lewis Cook and Marc Pugh.

Meanwhile, the visitors will continue without star man Harry Kane (ankle) and defender Toby Alderweireld (knee).

Betting odds and tips

Bournemouth bagged their third home win in a row by smashing Hull City 6-1 last week and will come into this game fresh and full of confidence.

With Champions League football also on their agenda, Spurs will have had less time to recover and prepare for this match. As a result, the draw looks like a decent bet at 5/2.
