The game features a 5-reel, 30-payline format with an outer space, alien abduction theme. Also offered are three different Scatter Bonus Features to add to the thrilling mystery of every spin.
The reels of Arrival spin inside the control room of an Alien spacecraft. Most of the key controls are located at the bottom of the screen, where the “Brain Alien” sits beneath the second reel, making adjustments to the ship’s instruments. If the player takes a bit too much time between spins, the Brain Alien will mutter, “I haven’t got all day,” “Please, do something” or “Hurry up, Earthling.”
The coin denomination for the game can be selected by clicking directly on the “Choose Coin” indicator in the lower left corner, from €0.02 to €0.50. Directly below the first and second reels is a display marked “Bet Per Line,” and the “Select Lines” display is below reel three. By clicking directly on the +/- toggles beneath these displays, it is possible to set the total Stake from 1 to 5 coins per line on 1~30 paylines up to a maximum of €75.
After the Stake has been set, clicking on “Spin” below reel four or “Bet Max Spin” beneath reel five will set the reels in motion. Lively adventure music accompanies the spins, and for most of the winning combinations, there is animation along with sound effects. The Brain Alien will laugh when wins occurs and levitate beneath his flying saucer to celebrate truly big wins.
The symbols displayed on Arrival are right out of science fiction. They include the glowing green Targeting Device, Bombs, the Space Marine Corps Badge and the Ringed Asteroid. These symbols pay line multipliers from 50X to 525X whenever three or more match up on an active payline from left to right. High awards are paid for matching two or more UFO, Robot, Pink Alien or Space Marine symbols, from 25X to 2000X. Note that there are no wild symbols in this game.
The first Scatter Feature on Arrival is the “UFO Click Me Bonus.” It is triggered whenever three or more Ray Gun icons appear in any position on the reels. A second screen will open up to show the Space Marine floating in a vacuum, pointing his ray gun at three UFOs that appear on the right and are marked “Click Me.” Each UFO hides a cash prize and shooting them down is worth instant winnings. When the “Collect” symbol is revealed, the bonus ends.
A second Scatter Feature of Arrival is the “Abduction Wild Reels Bonus.” If is activated whenever three or more Brain Alien symbols show up anywhere on the reels. The Alien’s flying saucer will appear and hover over one of the reels. It will then and beam up all the symbols on that reel and turn that entire reel “Wild” for five or more free spins. The entire reel remains Wild for all of those spins.
To trigger the third Scatter Feature, the “`Rescue Bonds Round,” three or more Female Marine symbols must appear anywhere on the reels. A second screen will open up to show the woman trapped in an “energy prison” controlled by four electric nodes. The Space Marine stands at a console on the left side of the screen, attempting to shut down the power to each node and free his comrade.
The player must help the Space Marine by clicking on any of six orange buttons bearing Alien symbols, some of which deactivate the nodes. When all four have been shut down, the trapped marine will be released and a cash prize will be awarded.
