Move over Indiana Jones. Here comes Daring Dave, and he’s got all of the skills needed to solve the mystery of this latest adventure slot game from Playtech: Daring Dave & The Eye of Ra. Watch Dave wind his way through a temple full of booby traps, en route the hidden treasure chamber. The animation is so realistic that it’s like watching the trailer for a new action film.

The main game on the Daring Dave slot features a 5-reel, 20-payline format that is similar to other Playtech slots. Wagering denominations range from €0.20 to €500 per payline, thus making the maximum bet a handsome €10,000 per spin. The amount bet can be adjusted quite easily by using the +/- toggles below the second reel.

Standard card symbols, Tens through Aces, are used on the reels of the Daring Dave slot. When three or more matches appear on an active payline, they pay out a multiplier for from 5X to 100X. Other symbols appearing on the reels include the Scarab Tile, Lion Tile, Ibis Guard, Jackal Guard and Falcon Guard. They are worth from 3X to 750X in winning combinations. Note that symbol animation is minimal.

Daring Dave is the wild symbol on the reels. He substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus Pyramid and Eye of Ra scatter symbols. Catching 2, 3, 4 or 5 Daring Daves in a row on an active payline will pay 5X, 50X, 500X or 5000X, respectively, times the line bet. On reels 2, 3, and 4, Daring Dave is an expanding wild and fills all positions on the reel when used in a winning combination.

The Eye of Ra symbol is the game’s scatter. Whenever 2, 3, 4 or 5 scatters appear anywhere on the reels, they are worth 1X, 5X, 25X or 125X, respectively, times the total amount wagers. There are no free spins or bonuses awarded for catching three or more Eye of Ra symbols in this game.

Daring Dave & The Eye of Ra features a 3-level continuous bonus game. Whenever the Bonus Pyramids on reels one and five appear simultaneously in any position, the Quest for the Eye of Ra Bonus is initiated. Players must complete a task on each level to move on to the next level. When a task is completed, the next level of the Bonus Game appears immediately. Any task not completed will be resumed when the Bonus Game is next activated. Only upon completing all three tasks will the player reach the Eye of Ra and collect the Grand Prize.

On the first level, Episode I, the player must select three stones from among eight that line a stone doorway within the depths of a pyramid. All of the stones hide cash awards, and three of them will reveal Eye of Ra symbols. The task is to find all three hidden symbols to crack the “Code of the Pharaohs” and advance to the next level. If the player is unsuccessful, the stones already selected remain revealed for the next visit.

On the second level, Episode II, the player must spin a wheel. Markings on the edge of the reel indicate bonus multipliers of 1X or 2X times the total wager or the symbol for the Eye of Ra. Each time an Eye of Ra symbol lands under one of three pointers, that pointer lights up. To reach the next level, the player must light up all three pointers. When unsuccessful, any lit pointers remain lit for the next visit.

On the third level, Episode III, the player must choose one of three circular pedestals to stand on to reach the Eye of Ra and claim the Grand Prize. Two of the pedestals are not sturdy and will crumble if selected, revealing consolation prizes. Only the correct pedestal will award the Grand Prize, and only one attempt is allowed on each visit. Unsuccessful attempts remove the crumbled pedestal from play, so that the player must eventually find the correct one within three visits, guaranteed.

Daring Dave has an Autoplay button below the fourth reel. Clicking on it reveals pop-up menu options for 10, 25, 50 or 99 automatic spins. There is also an option called “Until Feature.” Selecting this will activate unlimited automatic spins until either the Quest for the Eye of Ra Bonus is triggered.
