Founded in 1997, the Swedish software provider Play’n’Go have developed a reputation for high quality online slots with great attention to detail. The 5-reel, 15-payline game known as “Enchanted Meadow” is certainly a good example of their craft, transporting players to a fairyland scene, where birds chirp, a music box plays, bells ring softly and a flute sounds against the backdrop of a flowered meadow.
To play Enchanted Meadow, the player must first choose a basic Stake for wagering. This is accomplished by adjusting the up/down arrows that flank the “Coin Value” indicator below the first reel from €0.01 to €0.25. Then, the number of “Coins” per line must be set from 1 to 5 and the number of “Lines” in play selected from 1 to 15 by using the toggles beneath the second and third reels. Lines can also be selected by clicking directly on the numbered line indicators adjacent to reels 1 and 5. The maximum possible bet is €18.75.
The basic reel symbols used on Enchanted Meadow are the standard playing cards—Tens through Aces—which pay line multipliers from 5X to 150X whenever three or more matches appear on an active payline from left to right. Higher awards are paid for catching three or more symbols for the Mouse, Flying Fairy or Seated Fairy, from 25X up to 750X.
The “Enchanted Tree” symbol is wild, substituting for any of the above symbols. When 2, 3, 4 or 5 Enchanted Trees appear from left to right on an active payline, they pay a line multiplier of 10X, 100X, 500X or 2500X, respectively. Whenever an Enchanted Tree appears anywhere on the third reel, it expands to fill the entire reel and pays all winning combinations. Additionally, if the Medallion symbols appear on reels 2 and 4 at the same time the Enchanted Tree shows up on the third reel, five Free Respins are awarded with the expanded wild frozen in place. Catching the Medallions again during the respin mode adds two more respins to the total available.
The game offers a Scatter Bonus that is triggered whenever 2, 3, 4 or 5 “Fairy Queen Scatter” symbols appear in any position on the reels. These winning combinations are worth Total Stake multipliers of 2X, 3X, 20X and 50X, respectively. There is, however, no secondary bonus associated with the scatters.
The primary bonus on Enchanted Meadow is “Hide-and-Seek” feature. It is activated only when three Purple Flower symbols appear in any positions on reels 1, 3 and 5. At that time, the main slot game is paused and a secondary bonus window is displayed, with the fairies hiding behind flowers, mushrooms and other objects in the meadow. The player must click on location to find the fairies, who award cash prizes and free spins. Continue clicking and reveal fairies until the Angry Wasp is discovered and the Free Spins round begins.
During the Free Spins, all line wins are doubled in value. What’s more, each time two or more Fairy Queen Scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels, the line multiplier is increased by 1X up to a maximum of 5X. The Free Spins may be retriggered up to a total of 50.
Another bonus aspect of Enchanted Meadow is its Gamble Feature. After each win, the player has the option to guess a card, red or black to double up the winnings, or to pick a suit—hearts, diamonds, spades or clubs—to quadruple the winnings. Choosing correctly allows gambling again and again, up to five times in succession, and up to a limit of 2,500 coins. Otherwise the “Take Win” button can used to collect the payout and return to the slot game mode. To make card selection a bit easier, a history of the suits of past cards drawn provides some useful information.
One more useful option on Enchanted Meadow is its “Auto Play” function. Clicking on the Auto Play button under the fifth reel will reveal a pop-up menu for selecting from 10 to 50 effortless respins. The game will pause only when the player clicks on “Stop” or a Bonus Feature is activated. Note that the Gamble Feature is disabled during the Auto Play mode.
