The game has a 5-reel, 30-payline format with an Old West prospecting theme. It also offers three different Bonus Features to add some excitement and anticipation to every spin. What’s more, all three features can be triggered on the same spin, and they will play out in order.
The reels of Gold Diggers spin within the confines of an underground gold mine. The display is surrounded by wooden beams with metal supports, ropes, pulleys, kerosene lanterns and water dripping into a bucket. Most of the key controls are located at the bottom of the screen.
The coin denomination for the game can be selected by clicking directly on the Gold Rush sign, which features the “Choose Coin” indicator in the lower left corner, from €0.02 to €0.50. Directly below the reels are four ore carts marked “Select Lines,” “Bet Per Line,” “Sin” and “Max Bet Spin.” By clicking directly on the carts, the total Stake can be set from 1 to 5 coins per line on 1~30 paylines up to a maximum of €75.
After the Stake has been set, clicking on “Spin” will set the reels in motion. Lively country music played on a banjo, fiddle and harmonica accompanies the spins. For most of the winning combinations, the symbols animate and produce audio effects. When big wins occur, the whole troupe of miners comes out to dance and celebrate in front of the reels. The “sound” on/off toggle can be found directly above the first reel.
The symbols displayed on Gold Diggers are common items that might be found in a prospecting site. They include Pans of Gold and Pick Axes that pay line multipliers from 5X to 200X whenever three or more match up on an active payline from left to right. For greater rewards, catching two or more matching symbols for Ore Carts, Lanterns or Oil Barrels are worth 10X to 750X. The highest payouts are for two or more of the miner symbols—Jeb, Zeke and their Blonde Female companion—from 25X to 2500X. There is no wild symbol o the reels.
One of the three special Bonus Features of Gold Diggers is the “Dynamite Cascading Reels.” It is triggered by catching 3, 4 or 5 Dynamite symbols in a winning combination on an active payline, worth 200X, 500X or 2000X, respectively. After paying out, the Dynamite symbols explode, leaving gaps on the reels. This will cause the symbols above to fall down in a cascade and fill the gaps. Any resulting winning combinations will pay out along with the winnings from the initiating spin.
A second special Bonus Feature is the “Gopher A Dig Click Me Bonus.” Catching three or more Gopher symbols in a winning combination on any active payline will trigger the feature. The cheeky gopher will start digging up symbols on the reels. Clicking on the symbols marked “Click Me” will cause the Gopher to dig down into that symbol and reveal instant credit prizes. As soon as the last Click Me symbol has been selected, all credits that have been won will be awarded.
The third special Bonus Feature on Gold Diggers is called the “Gold Rush Bonus Round.” It is activated whenever three or more Gold Rush Poster symbols appear on an active payline. The miners will come out to study the poster, an explosion will occur and a secondary bonus screen will open deep inside the mine. The player must then help the miners strike it rich by indicated three of six locations in the mine wall for digging. The gold hidden behind the rocks will reveal bonus credits.
