For those who enjoy slot games with jungle themes, software developer Playtech is constantly coming up with new variations, from multispin video slots like Tropic Reels and Ugga Bugga to the wildly popular 5-reel, 20-payline movie-tie Kong slots. However, when it comes to simplicity, nothing quite matches the straightforward 3-reel, single payline format, and that’s what has been adopted for the tropical adventure game known as Jungle Boogie.
Playing Jungle Boogie is as simple as spinning the three reels, lining up matching symbols on the single payline and collecting a cash prize. There are no wild symbols, no scatters and no bonus games. Even the number of symbols on the reels has been limited to six, thus making play ultra easy and especially well suited to entry-level players.
The credit denominations for Jungle Boogie range from €0.01 to €5.00. The value can be adjusted using the +/- toggles next to the bet indicator at the lower left of the screen. It’s possible to wager from one to three credits on the one-and-only center payline. The amount can be adjusted by using the “Bet One” button on the control panel below the reels. Clicking on “Bet Max” will cause a maximum wager of three credits on the payline, but it does not change the denomination of each credit. The total bet limit is €15 per spin.
At the top right side of the display window is the game’s Paytable. Payouts are displayed in a grid of three columns for the bet amounts and eight rows for the winning combinations that may appear on the reels. Betting two credits on the payline will essentially double the amounts paid out, while betting three credits will triple them.
The Jungle Boogie symbols are all about a rain forest setting. The Blue Fish yields the most winning combinations. Catching one of them in any position on the payline is worth double the total wager. Getting two Blue Fish in any combination will pay a wager multiplier of 5X, while filling the payline with three of the symbols is good for a 150X payout.
The other five symbols available on the reels require three matches on the line for a win. The three Leopards will pay 50X, the Monkeys are worth 100X and three Birds are good for 200X. Catching a line full of Baboons wins the player 500X, while the top prize comes from getting all three of the Tiger symbols aligned, paying 1000X for a single credit wagered, 2,000 credits if two credits are bet, or 4,000 credits when the maximum three credits are wagered.
The reels can be set in motion in three different ways. The most obvious one is to click on the “Spin” button below the second reel. Another option is to click on the adjacent “Bet Max” button, which will automatically set the wager at three credits. The third option is to click on one of the columns on the Paytable to select the wager level and spin the reels at the same time.
Because this is classic 3-reel slot, the symbols on the reels are separated by blanks, making winning combinations of three symbols on the single payline infrequent. One way to speed play is to use the Autoplay option. It can be accessed from the pull-down “Tools” menu at the very top right corner of the screen. Clicking on Autoplay brings up a control panel in the lower right corner. The +/- toggles flanking the spins indicator can be used to set the number of auto spins desired from 1 to 9,999 maximum.
As for audio-visual effects, they are also quite simple. Drums play as the reels spin. Winning amounts are displayed in the “Win” counter to the right of the reels and jungle noises accompany each payout. Look for the parrot on the left side of the display to turn his head from time to time, but otherwise the game is all about spinning and winning.
