The pop group called Madness burst onto the U.K. music scene in 1976 and achieved most of their success in the 1980s. They were noted almost as much for their hilarious way of walking in lock-step as for their hit songs, which included the 1983 international hit single, “Our House.”

Madness – House of Fun is a 5-reel, 25-payline slot game developed by Ash Gaming for online casinos like Bet365. It features three separate bonus games, plus the ability to control the Madness background music by using a special “musical note” toggle beneath the first reel.

To begin, the player must choose the amount to wager per line by using the +/- buttons located at the bottom of the screen below the third reel. Available denominations range from €0.01 to €1.00 per payline. However, it is not necessary to select which lines to play on Madness. All 25 lines are always active. The total amount of the wager shows in the “Total Stake” counter, which can be found beneath the fifth reel. The maximum total bet is £25.

To set the reels in motion, click on the green “Play” button in the lower right corner of the screen. When the five reels come to rest, any winning combinations will be highlighted by coloured lines. The values of the line wins are displayed in the “Win” counter below reel one, while the “Total Win” amount is shown under reel three. Funds available can be seen in the “Balance” counter at the very top of the screen.

The basic symbols on the reels are the standard cards, Tens through Aces. Catching three or more of them matching on a payline is worth from 5X to 125X. Higher payouts come from matching three or more Bowler Hats, Saxophones, Double-deck Buses or the Madness Crew, valued at 25X to 2000X. The Madness Logo is wild. It substitutes for any of the above symbols and pays 100X, 1000X or 10000X for 3, 4 or 5 Logos in a row from left to right on an active payline.

One of the three bonuses available on Madness is the Free Spins Feature. It is triggered by the appearance of Free Spins Vinyl Disc symbols on reels one, three and five. The player then has a choice of five free spin modes, such as “Night Boat to Cairo” with 15 free spins and a Pyramid on the middle reel that changes the win multiplier or “Forever Young” with 15 spins and picture frame symbols that award cash prizes. The “Driving My Car” option and “Baggy Trousers” offer 10 free spins with stacked or sticky wilds, and the “Our House” selection provides a way to earn additional free spins. Note that it is not possible to re-trigger free spins or other bonuses during the free spins.

“House of Fun” is a pick-a-win bonus that is triggered whenever three scattered House of Fun symbols appear on reels one, three and five. The player must then choose a band member—Bedders, Barzo, Thommo, Chas, Chrissy Boy, Suggs or Woody—to provide a base win amount that will be added to all “picks” in the bonus.

Once the band member has been selected, the House of Fun screen appears—a large room full of objects that potentially hide prizes. Clicking on objects will reveal one of three outcomes: a cash prize, an extra band member or “collect,” which may end the bonus (although not always).

The Lucky Seven Bonus occurs when a special “Pair of Dice” scatter symbol shows up on reel three. The reel come to a “slow down” stop, the dice are rolled and a payout is made equal to the total amount wagered times the total showing on the dice, from 2X to 12X. Rolling a “Lucky 7” awards not only a 7X multiplier but also a free roll. It is possible to roll Lucky Seven more than once in a single feature.

Madness – House of Fun has an “Auto Plays” function, too. Clicking on the blue Auto Plays button below the fifth reel allows the player to select 5~99 automated spins from a pop-up menu. There is also an option for “Until Bonus,” which will keep the reels spinning until one of the bonus features is won.
