Go To bet365In 2004, Columbia Pictures and Marvel Enterprises teamed up to produce “Spider-Man 2” as a movie sequel to their 2002 blockbuster, “Spider-Man.” Both motion pictures were based upon the fictional comic book superhero created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, featuring a teen named Peter Parker who is bit by a radioactive spider and acquires superhuman powers.
In the first big screen version, the young web-slinger (played by Tobey Maguire) develops a love interest with Mary Jane Watson (played by Kirsten Dunst). In the follow-up film, the two are reunited, but coming between them is a brilliant scientist named Doctor Otto Octavius, who becomes “Doctor Octopus” after an accident causes him to bond psychically with mechanical tentacles that do his bidding.
It was this movie that Cryptologic chose as the model for its own online slots sequel, taking its original “Spider-Man” game to a new level as “Spider-Man Revelations.” Those familiar with the movies will immediately recognise the Runaway Train and Doc Oct symbols as homage to the celluloid version. Other symbols include the Radioactive Spider and a Safe full of money, as well as the traditional card symbols, Nines through Aces.
Cryptologic’s Spider-Man Revelations slots use a five-reel, 25-payline game format. Credit denominations run from €0.05 up to €5, with wagering of one credit per line up to a maximum bet of €125. The value of each credit can be changed by clicking on the up-down arrows adjacent to the Bet window under the fifth reel.
To start the game, click on “Spin.” Winnings are displayed in the “Paid” counter at the bottom of the screen, with the current balance shown immediately to the left and the Total Bet appearing to the right. The Autoplay feature can be enabled for repetition of up to 999 continuous bets.
Winning combinations of symbols on the reels pay multipliers of the line bet, from 4X up to 5,000X. The highest payout on an active payline is for five Spider-Man symbols in a row. Spider-Man is wild and substitutes for any other symbol except the Spider-Man Logo scatter emblem.
The appearance of five Scattered Logos pays 100 times the total bet, while 4, 3 or 2 Logos award 10X, 4X and 1X, respectively. The Spider-Man Bonus Feature is activated when three or more Scattered Logos land on the reels. The normal slot game is automatically suspended and a new scene is revealed with Spider-Man battling Doc Oct atop the runaway train.
The object of the bonus round is to rescue passenger or defeat Doc Oct. The player is given options to save a passenger and take free games with a multiplier or to battle on. If two passengers are rescued without taking a bonus, whatever the reward is for defeating Doc Oct becomes the bonus.
Free spins play out just like the normal game with the multiplier applied. However, if three or more Logo scatter emblems appear, the free games are retriggered at the same level awarded during the rescue phase. The number of free spins is therefore potentially unlimited.
In addition to the Spider-Man Bonus Feature, there are also three randomly awarded progressive jackpots—the Marvel Hero Jackpot starting at €5,000, the Super Hero Jackpot from €500 and the Hero Jackpot beginning at €50. For all Marvel Jackpots, the more a player wagers the more likely the chances are of winning one of the three jackpots.
Audio effects on the Spider-Man Revelations slots are very similar to those of a classic slot, from the lever-pulling sound to the whir of the reels and the “thunk” as the symbols come to a halt. In the bonus mode, tension-building music plays to heighten the thrill of battling and beating Doc Oct.
