Go To bet365Thanks to a licensing agreement signed with Marvel Enterprises in 2005, software specialist Cryptologic was able to develop the fictional antihero known as “The Punisher” into a five-reel, nine-payline slot game. The character was created in 1974 by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita, Sr. and Ross Andru, for a series depicting the exploits of a vigilante named Frank Castle.
In the back story, the former G-Man launches a vendetta to avenge the murder of his wife and family. He distributes punishment to those responsible for their death, and then goes on to use his mastery of martial arts and stealth tactics to wage a one-man war against crime in New York City. In 1989, an Australian movie version of the saga was produced starring Dolph Lundgren in the lead role. In 2004, Lionsgate and Marvel Enterprises returned the vigilante to the big screen as a full-length film featuring Thomas Jane as “The Punisher.”
The Cryptologic slot game features credit denominations ranging from €0.05 to €5, with betting of one credit per line up to a maximum bet of €45. The value of each credit is adjustable by clicking on the up-down arrows to left of the Bet window under the fourth and fifth reels. To start the game, click “Spin.” Winnings appear in the “Paid” display at the bottom of the screen, while the current Balance shows just to the left and the Total Bet to the right. Use of the Autoplay feature allows effortless repetition of up to 99 bets.
Following along with the comic book’s war-on-crime theme, winning combinations of symbols on the reels include matching three or more Gravestones, Cigars, Flashing Lights, ID Tags, Bullet-proof Vests or Dynamite Sticks. Higher payouts are awarded for lining up Night Scopes, Frag Grenades, Armored Vehicles or Criminal symbols on an active payline. The Punisher is wild on all reels, substituting for any symbol except the Skull Logo scatter emblem.
The very highest line payout is awarded for five consecutive Punisher symbols, worth 5,000 times the line bet. Other payouts range from 5X to 2,000X multipliers. There are also three progressive jackpots awarded randomly—the Marvel Hero Jackpot starting at €5,000, the Super Hero Jackpot beginning at €500 and the Hero Jackpot from €50. Owing to the way Marvel Jackpots are interlinked, betting more improves the chances of winning one of the three jackpots.
Catching five Skull Logo scatter emblems pays 100 times the total bet, while 4, 3 or 2 Logos award 20X, 5X and 1X, respectively. The special Villain Hunt bonus is activated by the appearance of three or more Scattered Skull Logos on any of the reels. The regular slots game is halted and a building with 12 windows appears. The player must then “shoot out” any five windows, each of which reveals either a villain worth a prize or ten free games.
It is possible to win up to 200 times the initiating wager in the Villain Hunt mode. All prizes during the free spin round are doubled and added along with the villain rewards to the payline and scatter wins. The free spins can be re-triggered an unlimited number of times however there is no win multiplier.
An additional Free Game Bonus Feature is available whenever the Punisher symbol appears on both reels one and five. Again, ten free spins are awarded and all wins are doubled. The bonus can be re-triggered by catching the two Punisher symbols once more. Additionally, the Villain Hunt can be initiated in this Free Game mode, too.
