Go To bet365South of the border, down Mexico way, is the theme for “Tres Amigos,” Playtech’s classic style slot game for online casinos. The colour scheme is predominantly red, green and yellow, with the heads of the “three friends” pictured in the upper right corner, cacti in the background and red chili peppers seemingly dancing around the display and slot window.
The object here is incredibly simple: spin the three reels, line up matching symbols on the single payline and collect a cash prize. Even the number of symbols on the reels has been limited to seven, thus making play ultra easy.
Tres Amigos is especially well suited to entry-level players. The credit denominations range from €0.01 to €5.00. The value can be adjusted using the +/- toggles next to the bet indicator at the lower left of the screen. It’s possible to wager either one or two credits on the one-and-only center payline. The amount can be adjusted by using the “Bet One” button on the control panel below the reels. Clicking on “Bet Max” will cause a maximum wager of two credits on the payline, but it does not change the denomination of each credit. The total bet limit is €10 per spin.
At the top right side of the display window is the game’s Paytable. Payouts are displayed in a grid of two columns for the bet amounts and nine rows for the winning combinations that may appear on the reels. Betting two credits on the payline will essentially double the amounts paid out.
The Tres Amigos symbols are all about a leisurely Mexican lifestyle. The Red Chili Peppers yield the most winning combinations. Catching one of them in any position on the payline is worth double the total wager. Getting two Red Chili Peppers in any combination will pay a wager multiplier of 5X, while filling the payline with three of the symbols is good for a 100X payout.
The other six symbols available on the reels require three matches on the line for a win. The three Guitars will pay 25X, the Cocktails are worth 50X and three Maracas are good for 75X. Catching a line full of Cacti wins the player 200X, while matching three Tacos is worth 500X. The top prize comes from getting all three of the Amigo symbols aligned, paying 1200X for a single credit wagered or 2,500 credits if two credits are bet.
The reels can be set in motion in three different ways. The most obvious one is to click on the “Spin” button below the second reel. Another option is to click on the adjacent “Bet Max” button, which will automatically set the wager at two credits. The other option is to click on either the “1” credit or “2” credit column on the Paytable.
Of course, this is classic 3-reel slot through and through. On each reel, the symbols are separated by blanks, making winning combinations of three symbols on the single payline infrequent, just like in “the good old days.” There are no wild symbols, no scatters and no bonus games.
There is, however, an Autoplay option, which can be accessed from the pull-down “Tools” menu at the very top right corner of the screen. Clicking on Autoplay brings up a control panel in the lower right corner. The +/- toggles flanking the spins indicator can be used to set the number of auto spins desired from 1 to 9,999 maximum.
As for audio-visual effects, they are certainly minimal, too. Winning amounts light up on the Paytable and are displayed in the “Win” counter to the right of the reels. A strumming guitar announces the spinning of the reels and a Mariachi trumpet flourish signals a line win. Look for one of the Tres Amigos in the logo display to wink from time to time, but otherwise the game is all about spinning and winning.
