Go To bet365Deep in the heart of the jungle, beyond the reach of civilization, a colourful world exists that is rich not only in wildlife and vegetation but also in cash rewards. That’s “Tropic Reels,” one of the very latest “Multispin Videoslots” from software developer Playtech, now appearing in online casinos like Bet365 and Titan.
Unlike most conventional video slots, Tropic Reels features five rows of slot windows, each with three independently spinning 3-position reels for a total of 45 different reel positions in all. Each game involves not one spin but two, with five lines to win on and the ability to “Hold” symbols in place for increased probability of big payouts.
The motif is a lush tropical rainforest, where a hidden river flows past ancient carved idols, brilliantly coloured birds and blossoms, and thick verdant foliage. The symbols on the reels reflect the equatorial atmosphere, too, including fruit, flowers, frogs and ferocious felines. The accompanying sound effects range from drumbeats to screeching birds and various jungle noises.
Available coin denominations start at €0.01 and run up to €5.00. The value can be adjusted by using the +/- toggles next to the bet indicator at the lower left of the screen. It is necessary to bet a minimum of five credits to cover all five of the game’s paylines. The amount wagered per line can be adjusted from 1 to 5 credits by using the “Bet One” button on the control panel below the reels. Clicking on Bet Max will apply a wager of 5 credits to each payline, but it does not change the denomination of each credit. The maximum total wager is €125 per spin.
When the player clicks on “Spin,” the reels begin to roll, but initially just one payline is active—the one at the very bottom of the screen. When the three reels come to a rest, the player has the option to click a “Hold” button at the bottom of each reel to freeze 1, 2 or all 3 symbols in place for a follow-up spin.
When a symbol is held, it will appear on all five paylines. The player also has the option to hold none of the reel symbols in place. Pressing Spin will cause all unheld positions on the reels to spin independently and come to a halt one at a time. Payouts are made for the highest winning combinations on each payline, and the amounts paid are displayed in the centre of each line. There are also displays for Total Bet, Line Bet and Paid amounts to the right of the reels.
Anytime a payout is made on any of the reels, it is possible to click on “Paytable” and see exactly what the winning combinations are; a horizontal red bar passes immediately behind them. For example, a single Pineapple on a payline is the lowest payout, worth a multiplier of 1X. The very highest payout is awarded for three Wild Tiger symbols in a row, valued at up to 2500X and making the top prize €62,500 for betting the maximum with a €5.00 credit denomination.
Other symbols include Blue, Yellow and Red Flowers; Purple, Green and Red Tree Frogs; Red, Green and Orange Fruit; and Blue, Orange and Red Parrots. Alignments pay from 2X to 200X, and random combinations of Flowers, Tree Frogs, Fruit and Parrots, respectively, also generate cash awards, as do random alignments of mixed Parrots and Fruit. The Wild Tiger substitutes for any symbol, and catching just 1 or 2 of them pays 1X or 10X, respectively.
A pull-down menu for “Options” can be accessed by clicking on the “Tools” symbol at the top right of the screen. “Game Settings,” “Audio Settings” and “General Settings” allow the player to disable the game sounds, background sounds or dealer voices. It is also possible to adjust the game speed for normal play or fast play. There is, however, no Autoplay function.
